A closer look at Margot and Ina

Margot’s partner was reluctant to do an activity with her to prepare for the baby. Margot used a passive communication style by not expressing her disappointment. She gave up. She was disappointed, frustrated, and grew sadder.

Ina, too, was disappointed by her partner’s refusal. Yet, she wondered whether there might be another way for them to communicate. She communicated her needs clearly. She mentioned the importance she placed on the birth preparation activity. She knew that she would feel better if she completed the activity with her partner. She took action.
