Click on your role to reveal strategies to put in place when your baby is with you.
- Communicate your needs clearly. People around you cannot guess what you need or read your mind.
- Encourage your partner to care for the baby and allow them to do it their own way. This will build their confidence and help them build a strong bond with the baby.
- Support your partner by making it easier for them to get some rest.
- The new mother will be able to do more in time, but for the first six weeks she must focus on resting and feeding the baby.
- Offer help and take care of your baby if your partner seems overwhelmed. Give her child-free breaks when possible. Work it so that at least one break is planned for per week.
